New library hours begin January 2

Date:
Dec 9, 2019

Beginning January 2, the University of Arizona Health Sciences Library in Tucson will be open and staffed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Before and after regular hours, and on Saturdays and Sundays, Health Sciences students, faculty and staff can enter the library with their CatCards, except during holiday closures.

While evenings and weekends are busy with Health Sciences clients studying, a careful assessment indicates we could manage the library with greater efficiency by staffing during hours across the workweek that are busiest for staff-mediated transactions. This will allow us to redirect our limited staff to other important programming work. During evenings and weekends, clients with questions or in need of assistance are encouraged to use University Libraries’ chat service. Loan periods at the Health Sciences Library will be extended so that no materials will be due on weekends, and clients needing to borrow technology evenings and weekends may do so from the Main Library. As we implement this change, we will continue to explore ways to improve way-finding and provide on-site instructions in order to promote greater user self-sufficiency.
