Services for Banner-University Medical Center locations (Tucson, South, & clinics)

Banner Health facilities are UA off-campus locations with respect to UA-licensed resources, such as journals, ebooks, and databases. Banner employees who are UA Designated Campus Colleagues (DCC) Affiliates and Associates can access UA-licensed resources (except for UpToDate) from off campus by clicking on a library-supplied link to those resources, then signing in when prompted with their NetID and password.

Both the UA and Banner have UpToDate subscriptions. Banner employees (including those who are also UA DCC Affiliates or Associates) must access UpToDate via Banner's UpToDate. Banner employees, COM residents, and fellows can create a personal "UpToDate Anywhere" login via Banner's UpToDate subscription and use that login to access UpToDate from Banner off campus.

Also, Banner UpToDate Anywhere users may be requested (via an email reminder) to reverify their Banner login credentials every 90 days. Reverification of one's continuing affiliation with Banner is accomplished simply by accessing UpToDate via a Banner networked computer (or if off campus, via a Banner intranet session).

Can I access electronic UA-licensed library resources within Banner-UMC?

If you are a UA DCC Affiliate or Associate:

You can access most UA-licensed information resources by logging in with your UA NetID.* If you don't have a UA NetID, create one at UA NetID. If you need help, ask your department administrator. For questions about accessing UA-licensed resources, contact us.

*Except for College of Medicine-Tucson community preceptors, UA DCC Affiliates and Associates do not have access UpToDate via the UA's UpToDate license. See UpToDate access FAQs.

If you are a Banner employee & not a UA DCC Affiliate or Associate:

Banner-licensed resources, such as UpToDate, Micromedex, and Mosby’s Nursing Skills, are available at the Banner-UMC locations (Tucson, South, & clinics) and via the Banner intranet. Access to most UA-licensed resources is available to anyone from within the Health Sciences Library and other UA Libraries locations.

Can I check out a book from the Health Sciences Library?

If you are a UA DCC Affiliate or Associate:

Your CatCard is your library borrower's card, so it lets you check out print materials from the Health Sciences Library and other UA Libraries. If you don't have a CatCard, contact the CatCard office to find out how to get one. For more information, see borrowing at the Health Sciences Library.

If you are a Banner employee & not a UA DCC Affiliate or Associate:

You may register for a borrower's card at the Health Sciences Library information desk. Your account will expire in one year, at which time you will be notified and required to confirm your Banner status.

What other services are available?

If you are a UA DCC Affiliate or Associate:

All library services are available to you, including reference services, interlibrary loans (ILLs), and research assistance.

If you are a Banner employee & not a UA DCC Affiliate or Associate:

You are welcome to come to the library and use the print and electronic resources. However, many library services are now provided by Banner Health library services. To request a service, see the links below.

For more information, or if you have questions, you may contact us at the UA Health Sciences Library or visit the Banner Health Library Services homepage.
