Listed in the Dec 31, 1870 Post Return with the Medical Department on leave. At the time, Henry Durant was the citizen physician at the post. Hall was from New Hampshire. He continued his career as an Army surgeon. In 1903 he became colonel and acting surgeon general of the Army.

C. ; College of Physicians and Surgeons in the City of New York, 1867; aged 77; who entered the Army as assistant surgeon, November 16, 1868; was promoted to captain in 1871, to major in 1889, to lieutenant colonel and deputy surgeon general in 1901, and to colonel and assistant surgeon general in 1903, and was retired by operation of law, March 18, 1906, on attaining the age of 64; died, February 25.
